Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ responds to bomb threat

THE FOLLOWING IS A STATEMENT FROM Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER SID SALTER:
Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ received a bomb threat through the campus telephone operator late this afternoon. The call was transferred to the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Police Department. The Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ PD immediately began an orderly sweep of populated areas of the campus with both an explosive-detecting canine and Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ PD officers, concentrating first on residence halls and the areas where Boys State and Cheerleader Camps guests are located. At this time, Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ believes that our campus buildings have been inspected and are secured. We are working with our partners in the Boys State and Cheerleader Camp programs to ensure their safety and to coordinate the continuation of their use of our campus.
As a matter of policy, we take all such threats seriously and govern our response accordingly. The university will not release additional details, as this threat remains an ongoing investigation.
